Setup costs are always a concern with small production runs, and often are the primary factor in whether or not a project of this kind is economically feasible, especially in the CNC arena.

At Westcentral Pattern these costs are minimized by keeping overhead low, processes lean, and eliminating costly programming by creating a sand mold from any blueprint out of a wood/plastic pattern.

The sand process is one in which moist bonded sand is packed around a wood, plastic or metal pattern to make a mold. The pattern is then removed and the mold is used to make a cavity. Molten metal is then poured into the cavity. When the metal solidifies and cools the mold is broken and the casting is removed.

At Westcentral Pattern every step of this process is completed in-house, from precision pattern fabrication to final machining. This eliminates all 2nd sourcing, improves lead times, lowers costs, and creates a strong customer partnership by encompassing the project as a whole, start to finish.
